Wow, long time since the last post. Weird that this one also happens to be about the Colorado Trail. Today I dropped Alana off at Kenosha Pass where she had met me last year on my trip. She is hiking back to Denver and I joined her for an hour. Good luck Alana and enjoy yourself!

GCL Done for now
I hiked into Snowmass earlier. For now the Great Colorado Loop has ended until next year. My return trip got me about halfway. I have about 250 miles remaining to complete the loop. Still 750 miles is a good summer break.

GCL Half Done
The Great Colorado Loop has been quite an experience so far. I'm in Durango now with almost half the GCL finished. I completed the Colorado Trail yesterday and will start back out Saturday probably.

GCL begins this weekend
Although there is still quite a bit to do around the house I'm still planning on starting the GCL this Saturday. Worst case scenario is that I start Sunday. I'm packing the backpack tonight after happy hour. At least that will be done.

GCL Update
Just a quick update - probably not many more of these "prep" entries before I start the GCL. I'll be in Nevada and mostly offline for 3 weeks in May and I'm on track to start the hike on June 4.
I was just notified that the 8th edition guidebook shipped. Great, I was hoping to get it before leaving for NV. I'm not expecting any real surprises but it's nice not to have to remind oneself "unless it's changed in the X years since then" when consulting the book on something important.
I've decided to drop off some supplies at the Breckenridge hostel and hide a food cache or two around LCW on my drive back from NV. I'm still not sure how many maildrops I'll send. It's probably a good idea to send one to Marble and maybe Minturn during the return trip. Other than that maybe Twin Lakes and/or Mt. Princeton. I have sufficient hiking meals and snacks already (and gear) so I won't need to make any shopping trips whatever I decide.
