I hiked into Snowmass earlier. For now the Great Colorado Loop has ended until next year. My return trip got me about halfway. I have about 250 miles remaining to complete the loop. Still 750 miles is a good summer break.

The Great Colorado Loop has been quite an experience so far. I'm in Durango now with almost half the GCL finished. I completed the Colorado Trail yesterday and will start back out Saturday probably.

Time for the hot pepper update. Eventually there was 100% germination although one never got past a little bud barely out of the seed. They are growing slowly but not all of them are healthy. First one had it's little leaves eaten when I put them outside for some sun. That one is essentially dead. Since then another 4 or so are shrivelling. I'm not sure what is wrong with them. The Ruta Puuc is something that the tourist board dreamed up. Puuc is a particular subculture or style of Maya. Chichen Itza is the most famous Mayan site due to it's size and proximity to Cancun. Being on the main highway to Merida (the original road *bisected* the ruins) made it as especially convenient stop for me although I was caught in a 2nd class bus service hell that dragged out my arrival and departure. The Mountain Film Festival held a screening in Boulder Tuesday. These are always a good time and I went with a friend and his wife. I think the best movie was the Czech rock climbers and jumpers. Oh, and I won an MSR E Wing emergency shelter in the drawing. Schweet!

I recently bought tickets for a short 11 day trip to Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. I won't be visiting many, if any, beaches though. I'm primarily going down there to visit a lot of Maya ruins in the vicinity of Merida. That city is supposed to be very nice too. More info coming as I plan the trip.

Last week I succeeded at my first aid climb. I was alone and for this practice session I set up a safety line so I couldn't come off the cliff regardless of what might happen. But I didn't need it and was able to aid up on a variety of cams and a short ladder that I tied in some sling. Good experience.

I am starting the approx. 950 mile Mountain to Sea Trail on Saturday.  I'm expecting to cover the distance in about two months.  Check out my MST thruhike journal as I hike. I just completed a big milestone on my website upgrade. I finished reorganizing my travel section, regenerating the photo galleries, changing all the links, and setting up redirects to the new pages. It was about 2 weeks of work to do that for Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, and most of the US. There is still plenty to do but it is all little stuff with the exception of a new guestbook. All done in

Hood Climbers UpdatedI don't normally do current events here but I wanted to mention a few things regarding the climber rescue on Mt. Hood. Why? Well because people who do climb mountains get very frustrated hearing things that are downright wrong or otherwise completely uneducated comments. Some media outlets had called the 3 mountaineers on a difficult climb "hikers" for crying out loud.

I've been rather busy with lots of website updates - surprisingly busy in fact. I've got some new and improved css and some dynamic features added to pretty up the place a bit. Still, with as much as I have done there is even more remaining plus there is some extra content that I want to add... and I'll be doing some trips in the meantime which is more stuff to add.
